Recycle Brigade

For every item we collect, a recycling company called Terracycle will pay us 2 cents (sometimes more!).   Participating in the brigade helps us to be better stewards of God’s creation as well as helping the less fortunate in our community.

We need YOUR help to build on this success!

Ideas to maximize your effort:

·         Post this flyer on your fridge to remember what we are collecting, and keep a separate container near your trash can for these items

·         Take a bag/box/plastic bin to work, place it near a trash receptacle or break room with the “need” list attached

·         Have a student collect snack time wrappers from their class

·         Discuss lunch time collection of wrappers with a child’s school

St. Joseph is collecting:

ü  Drink pouches – such as Capri Sun, Kool Aid, etc. Please make sure its empty, dry and no straws.

ü  Snack bar wrappers – such energy, granola, nutrition, cereal and protein bars – that are plastic with a silver lining

ü  Cookie package wrappers – any name brand

ü  Candy wrappers – any brand, any size

ü  Any Kashi Product package

ü  Bear Naked brand granola bags

ü  Disposable diaper packaging – any size wrapper from any brand

ü  Paper products wrappers – outer wrapper from paper towel, tissue, toilet paper,  any size or brand

ü  Chip or snack bags any brand bag with silver colored lining

ü  Cheese package – bags, containers, etc. from any brand of grated, whole or sliced cheese. Clean ones only please.

ü  Starbucks Coffee bags – Any size used Starbucks® coffee bag is acceptable

ü  Lunch kit – Lunchables, Oscar Meyer, etc.  Any brand accepted.   Please make sure it is clean

ü  Tortilla and Tostada bags – Any brand tortilla or tostada bags

ü  Cereal bags - any brand and any size cereal bag; excludes cereal boxes and the inner plastic cereal lining found inside cereal boxes

ü  Elmer's Glue - Any size Elmer’s brand glue sticks, plastic glue bottles, refill jars and Elmer's glitter glue tubes

ü  Plastic cups - #6 rigid cups, polystyrene cups, rigid polystyrene cups. No foam cups please.

ü  Personal Care and Beauty products – any brand, any size lipstick cases, mascara tubes, eye shadow cases, shampoo bottles, conditioner bottles, bronzer cases, foundation packaging, body wash containers, soap tubes, soap dispensers, lotion dispensers, saving foam tubes, powder cases, lotion bottles, chapstick tubes, lotion tubes, face soap dispensers, face soap tubes, face lotion bottles, face lotion jars, nail polish bottles, nail polish remover bottles, eyeliner cases, eyeliner pencils, eyeshadow tubes, concealer tubes, concealer sticks, lipliner pencils, hand lotion tubes, hair gel tubes, hair paste jars.

ü  Keyboard and Mouse - plastic wireless computer keyboards, plastic computer keyboards, plastic wireless computer mice, plastic wired computer mice

NEW!  These items worth even more money…..we especially need these items if you have them.   They don’t need to work.   All hard drives are removed and shredded and all information from electronics is removed:

ü  Inkjet cartridges – any brand empty inkjet style printer cartridge

ü  MP3 players – Any brand

ü  Cell phones - Any brand and size used cell phone. Please no house/portable phones, phone chargers or loose batteries. 

ü  Laptops  - any brand.  Don’t worry about data.  All hard drives are removed and shredded.

ü  Digital cameras – Any brand or size

Where to put them: Brigade items can be dropped in bins are located in the vestibules of the country church during Mass time.
